Number 23 (2007) DVDRIP

Jim Carrey as a schizophrenic murderer isn't convincing, in this melodramatic film about a man obsessed by the Number 23. Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever, St. Elmo's Fire) has unintentionally managed to make a comedy of horrors that really is quite humorous in parts. Walter Sparrow (Carrey) becomes engrossed in a homespun novel about Detective Fingerling, whose life degrades into mayhem because of his obsession with 23's esoteric numerical puzzles. Sparrow's preoccupation with the book follows his botched attempt to catch a nasty dog that bites him, leading one to believe that Sparrow's contraction of rabies might be the cause for his mental degradation. As the story progresses, Sparrow retreats further into Fingerling's world, rife with suicidal sexpots and hardboiled detective sleuthing. His wife, Agatha (Virginia Madsen), also plays Fingerling's girlfriend, sex-crazed Fabrizia, who taunts Fingerling until he stabs her. Back in reality, Walter aims to solve the unresolved crimes in the book, taking it as a murderer's diary rather than as an imagined work. The story is half-baked, though Carrey's portrayal of a mentally disturbed person is what makes The Number 23 comedic. Long, contemplative stares, and over-dramatized acting renders Sparrow a clichéd character, rather than one odd enough to engage viewers. For a better version of almost the exact plot but with a terrorist's twist, see Thr3e instead.

Night At The Museum (2007)

In New York, the unemployed divorced Larry Daley is a complete loser. His son Nick is very disappointed with his father that is gong to be evicted, and Larry accepts the job of night watchman in the Museum of Natural History as the substituted for three old security guards that have just retired to raise some money and pay his bills. However, a seemingly easy job turns out to be a wild ride when he finds that an ancient curse has caused the "inhabitants" of the museum to come to life.

Widower Hemant Rastogi lives in scenic Mahabaleshwar, seemingly alone. One night he has a heart attack and passes away. When the Police search his residence, they find a young man in the basement of the house, a man whose eyes are very sensitive to any kind of light, whose name is Tejas, the only son of Hemant, who has been sheltered, and has never stepped out.

The Police ask Purva Rana of P.R. Institute, that rehabilitates young men who have taken to crime, to look after Tejas, whose life has been influenced by books that his dad provided for him. Tejas proves that he has power of mind over matter, and thus proves to be a misfit in the institute, resulting in the near fatal accident of a security guard, Singh, and the death of a fellow student, John. But Tejas redeems himself in the eyes of Purva’s wealthy dad, Pushkar, when he is able to wake his wife, Gayetri Rana from a coma-like condition. It looks like Tejas has wormed his way into the Rana household, but this is short lived as a number of doctors are curious and would to carry out some experiments on him. When Tejas and Pushkar both refuse to be part of these experiments, Tejas is abducted and held in a glass chamber by Dr. Richard Dyer, who wants to control his mind for his own benefit. The question remains will Tejas use his skills and powers to overcome Dr. Dyer or will he be treated as a guinea pig to further the personal goals of Dr. Dyer.
